Baftas 2014 Red Carpet + Giveaway

Are you like me and are glued to the screen whenever there is a red carpet event on TV, swooning over the beautiful dresses, stunning jewellery and flawless makeup and hair? Well then you will probably be in front of the TV tomorrow when the BAFTAS are being shown on BBC One 8pm like me.

I was invited to get a preview of some of the looks we might see on the red carpet this year, with this years style partners for the BAFTA. Which this year is Carat London, Corinthia Hotel London, House of Fraser, M.A.C., Mark Hill and ST. Tropez.

It was such an informative afternoon, not only to hear what style we might see on the red carpet this year, but also hearing from people who are going to be on the red carpet this year, BAFTA CEO Amanda Berry and actor Ophelia Lovibond, on what it is like behind the scenes, what preparations they do to prepare for the day and how long it takes them to get ready for the red carpet.
Amanda explaining that because she is working on the day, she often doesn’t have long to get ready and relies on the style partners to help her out on the day. Ophelia however planes about an hour each for makeup and hair, before a big event.

I think it comes as a shock to most people, when they hear how much preparation goes into preparing for a red carpet event and how long it actually takes to get ready on the day. But also that it can be a bit stressful, as looking good on the red carpet is part of a good career if you are in that field, so you want to look your best on the night, while still looking a version of yourself and without any fashion mishaps.
When working as a makeup artist and hair stylist, I have quite often used 2-3 hours getting a client ready for a big event, plus them adding on time for sorting out dresses and jewellery as well. It really is an event in itself.

Carat London who are this years jewellery partner, showed off some of their jewellery from their new collection but also some other amazing red carpet worthy jewellery. Now I already love this brand, so much so, that I even got my wedding ring from them, which you can read about by clicking Here.
But the stones in these jewellery truly sparkle like no other brand and only real diamonds are on the same level, but these come without the 5 digit price tag, meaning that it is possible to copy some of this years red carpet looks without having to be a millionaire……. I am still dreaming of some of the pieces shown that day!

Hair stylist Mark Hill, who are this years hair styling partner, showed off some of the hair styles that he thought would be prominent on the red carpet this year, one of them being a very glamours vintage style, inspired by Downton Abbey/1920’s. But also explaining how a good base and the right products are the key to a perfect and lasting red carpet hair style.

ST. Tropez who are launching the Self Tan Express this month, meaning no more sticky self tanner or waking up with sheets covered in the stuff, because it didn’t dry probably before going to bed, as it is a pre-shower treatment, that you wash off depending on the level of tanning you are after. They are making sure the stars are having the perfect tan on the red carpet this year.

House of Frasier showed off some beautiful dresses that they predict we will see on the red carpet this year and you can go onto their website and see more about that on their website.

And last but not least, Rebecca Butterworth MAC Senior Makeup artist, showed two stunning red carpet makeup looks. One with a modern red lip, where it was the orangey-red that was the main focus of the makeup and second look was a dark eyes and nude lip look, where the focus was on the glowing skin. To achieve the second look, the main products Rebecca used was, In Extreme Dimension 3D Black Lash, Cremesheen Lipstick in Ravishing, Strobe Cream Hydratant Lumineux and of course the all important Blot Film for the handbag to touch up during the evening.
